Privacy Policy

How V-Tech UK Ltd handles personal information when you contact us or use this site.

This notice is general information, not legal advice. For advice about your circumstances, consult a qualified data-protection professional.

Who we are

V-Tech UK Ltd is the organisation responsible for the personal information described in this notice. This notice explains how we handle personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our address is 181 Forest Road, IG6 3HZ, and our company number is 04581693. For privacy questions or requests, email sales@v-techuk.com.

Information we collect

When you contact us or use the BM serial checker, we may collect the details you enter, including your name, company, email address, phone number, site postcode, service enquiry and message, equipment model and serial number, calibration date, interests, marketing preference, and any photos or documents you upload. Booking forms may also include the page address and campaign referral details you arrived with.

To operate the serial checker and protect it from misuse, we keep the serial entered and its result, together with a salted hash of the IP address, browser user-agent and referrer. We use the hash rather than storing the IP address itself in the serial-check log.

How we use information and our lawful bases

  • Enquiries, bookings and registrations: to respond to you, assess the equipment details, arrange requested services and take steps you request before a contract. Where you become a customer, we also use relevant information to perform and administer that contract.
  • Warranty matters: to check and support BM equipment warranty matters, including sharing relevant registration details with BM Test.
  • Site operation and security: to run the website, prevent abuse, apply request limits and maintain service records. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the service.
  • Optional marketing: to send service reminders or offers only where you have chosen to receive them. You can withdraw that choice at any time.
  • Legal requirements: where we need to keep or disclose information to meet a legal obligation.

Depending on the activity, the lawful basis is taking steps at your request, performing a contract, our legitimate interests, your consent or a legal obligation.

Who may receive information

We share relevant registration details with BM Test for warranty purposes. We also use service providers to host and operate the website, store registration records and uploaded files privately, deliver emails and support customer follow-up. Registration information may be routed through our GoldMine lead-forwarding service and, where configured, ActiveCampaign. These providers receive only the information needed for their role.

Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on this site. When your browser requests a font, Google receives the technical information needed to deliver it.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, including handling an enquiry, registration, service or warranty matter, and meeting applicable legal obligations. The period depends on the nature of the record and whether you have an ongoing service relationship. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or securely anonymise it.

How we protect information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. Uploaded registration files are kept in private storage and are not made publicly accessible. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your data protection rights

Subject to the conditions in data-protection law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain uses, or request a portable copy. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.

To exercise a right, email sales@v-techuk.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Information about making a complaint is available at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small text files that websites can place on your device. This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The booking form may use your browser's session storage to retain campaign referral details while you complete a booking; this is browser storage, not a cookie. You can manage or block cookies in your browser settings. If we introduce non-essential cookies, we will explain their use and request consent where required.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies and local storage that the site and its forms need to work, including remembering your cookie choice for six months.

We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads to measure visits and enquiries from our website and adverts.

With your consent only, we also use Microsoft Clarity (analytics) to understand how pages are used so we can improve them. Clarity does not run unless you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our information-handling practices or legal requirements change. The version shown on this page describes our current notice.
